Writing
Being a writer is more than a list of experiences and a catalogue
of skill sets - it's a calling. It takes passion, dedication, creativity,
and motivation. It takes a wealth of life experiences fused with
the vast panoramas of imagination to construct sentences and develop
arguments that not only inform and educate, but which flow logically
from one idea to the next until the author's point is not only understood,
but actually felt by the reader.
While earning my Bachelor's degree in History I learned the value
of research, how to formulate logical arguments, and obtained the
tools necessary to compose a meaningful dialogue between author
and reader. At University I was a founding member of a group of
writers dedicated to improving our command of the written word,
submitting our work to each other for editorial critique. Later,
when I studied Graphic Design, I developed the skills necessary
to effectively and efficiently transmit ideas to the target audience.
My hobby of acting in community theatre has exposed me to the works
of some of the greatest authors, providing a backdrop of literary
excellence. A list of my published works includes articles, serialized
fiction, short fantasy and web content. If required, I can also
provide examples from my academic treatises and biographical histories.
But while these experiences and the skill sets I've acquired add
to the whole of my understanding of writing, it's the passion of
the calling that makes me a writer.
